Our Baseball Star Jack

We signed Jack up for a "special needs" baseball team this spring. The team is for anyone from age 5-21 with a mental or physical challenge. They play 2 innings, there are no outs, and everyone gets to bat.

Jack seems to be enjoying it very much as he can aimlessly exsist in his own world, while still being part of a team. We seem to have found his "place" among kids and parents who understand that sometimes its "O.K." to sit this inning out or that it's "O.K." if you want to run back and forth (and back and forth, and back and forth) around the perimeter of the outfield fence when playing defense. Everyone here is a winner.

Jack took a liking to the batting helmet and he insists on wearing it for all aspects of the game, including when playing on defense. He has also taken to making up his own "position" on field and does a good job of making himself look a part of the team.

From Jack's first game:

Jack getting "coaching" on being the "pitcher's back up" (a position he made up)

Jack in the far, far, far right field position. I believe it's called the "Foul ball fielder" position.

Here he is in the "catcher's position" in the far, far right field. He's totally ready.

From Jack's second game:

Jack on base, doing his own thing...

Easter 2007

Easter this year for us was "low key". We went to Easter Mass in the morning, followed by a homemade Easter Egg Hunt in our backyard and brunch with Aunt Bern, Uncle Shawn, "Aunt Judy" (Shawn's mom), Aunt Eileen & Declan. Grandmom & Pop were in Houston celebrating with Charles & Tiffany and our new niece, Audrey, and their oldest, Olivia.

Spring Break in Montana March 2007

We spent Spring Break this year in Montana with Lolo & Lola. Vanessa had homework for her trip, she had to carry around "Flat Stanley" (a character from a book) and take pictures of him with her during their adventures. (Sort of like the Travelocity Knome) We had a great time fishing, riding horses, playing in Missoula, and just relaxing with Lolo & Lola, despite Mike suffering from food posioning the first night :(.

Josie turns 1 and Pop turns 70!

Hi Everyone,

Yes, I've been slacking on the blog! Sorry--life has been a bit busy for us these first months of 2007.

Josie turned 1 on January 16th this year. Her Pop turned 70 on January 14th--so we had a joint birthday party for them for their special birthdays! Here are some photos from the event:
